Hannah was devastated because she could not have a baby. The bible says, she prayed in the temple, promising God that if He gave her a baby, she would dedicate the baby to Him. Eli the priest saw Hannah and thought she was drunk at first. But then Hannah told him what she was praying for and Eli replied; “You will have a baby Boy,”
Hannah believed this with all her heart and she praised God.
“Cast all your cares onto the Lord for He cares for you -1 Peter 5:7”
A year later, Hannah gave birth to her first child who she named Samuel, because; “the lord heard me”.
Sometimes we may not feel like worshiping or singing to God because we are sad, tired, worried or distracted. Hannah had to give all her hurt feelings, worries and problems to the Lord. When she did this, God helped her “and began to eat again and was no longer sad.”
An excerpt of Hannah’s prayer of praise:
1 Samuel 2:1-2
Then Hannah prayed;
“My heart rejoiced in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me. No one is holy like the LORD! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”
The next time you worship:
Pray first.
Pray earnestly and faithfully.
You may look drunk and foolish to others. Pray anyway.
Feel God lift your burdens off your shoulders, feel relieved because you know that God will pull you through and everything will be alright in the end.
Then go and praise God with all your might because He is good.
